The Perse Preparatory School is the Junior School of the Perse School, Cambridge and it stands in its own grounds some 1.5 miles away from the Upper School. It is totally self-contained, except for the use of a nearby swimming pool. The school has its own staff of 14 teachers and several visiting teachers.
The School's aims revolve around a curriculum which achieves excellence, activities and leisure pursuits that encourage well rounded educational development and a good pastoral system under the care of the Form Teachers. A broad and balanced education is provided in a friendly atmosphere and we aim to ensure that all pupils make the most of their talents. We set out to achieve high academic standards and equally high standards in cultural, sporting and other areas of the curriculum. Reliability, consideration for others, good manners and self discipline are all highly valued.
Our excellent facilities and the diverse skills of our staff enable us to offer a wide range of sporting and recreational pursuits. The games programme (soccer, cricket, tennis and swimming) is designed to encourage all boys from the keenest to the least athletic, to enjoy games and physical exercise. There is a strong school tradition in music, drama and the arts. Boys may choose to learn a musical instrument from the full orchestral range and the majority learn an instrument. There are choirs, two orchestras and various instrumental groups. A variety of extra-curriculum activities is also available, amongst them, Badminton, Chess, Cookery, Computing, Cubs, Cycling Proficiency, Drama, Judo, Puppetry, Silk Screen Printing, School Magazine Publishing, Tennis and Swimming. There is an annual adventure activity week for older boys in the summer and a ski-ing trip in the winter. The Preparatory School with the Perse School provides a smooth progression for a boy from 7 to 18 years of age.
